AISLADOS 540 people inhabit the most densely populated artificial island in the Colombian Caribbean made by poor people. Santa Cruz del Islote is an island the size of a football pitch. Having boats as their mean of transportation they are 3 hours away from Cartagena. There are no police, no hospitals nor doctors. There are 97 houses for 18 families, one school, a restaurant-cum-harbour, and a small town center. Nowadays the islanders are struggling to keep their territory.
